Harris Road Middle School Choir 2002 - Present
Harris Road Middle School opened its doors to the families of Cabarrus County in August of 2002, with 780 students, 56 certified staff members, and 35 support staff. Since it's grand opening, Harris Road has continued to grow and has become an example of outstanding performance both in and out of the classroom.
Currently, Harris Road Middle School serves 1,300 students and is one of the highest performing middle schools in North Carolina and #1 in growth in Cabarrus County. Mrs. Jody-Kay Skeen was the first chorus director for the Patriots. While under the direction of Mrs. Skeen, the Patriots earned a reputation as having one of the best Middle School Choirs in Cabarrus County and North Carolina. She lead the school to 21 Superior Ratings at the NCMEA Music Performance Adjudications held each year at Wingate University. After Mrs. Skeen retired in 2017, Ms. Rachel Juliano took over the program. |
Mrs. Rachel Juliano, Director of ChoirsMs. Juliano was raised about 20 minutes outside of State College, PA and Penn State! She was very involved with music throughout her public education participating in chorus and band. Mrs. Juliano was also was very involved with soccer and swimming. After graduating in 2009 she attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. While at Lock Haven, Mrs. Juliano was very involved with her school music department. She sang in 2 to 3 choirs every semester and had the opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom and perform. In December 2013, Mrs. Juliano graduated with her B.A. in Education with a concentration in Music Education as well as a Minor in Special Education. In January 2014, Ms. Juliano moved to Concord, NC to join the Cabarrus County Family. After teaching at the high school level for 3 1/2 years she moved to Harris Road!
Since becoming a Patriot Ms. Juliano and her students have accomplished so much. They have travelled to MPA and received 8 Superior ratings. As well as traveled and performed for the Cabarrus County School Board, Carowinds Festival of Music and Busch Gardens Music in the Parks. Ms. Juliano looks forward to making music with all of her students. and asks that students come to class with a positive mental attitude and a PENCIL! |
